Johnny will be heading to Eastern Cape where his fans get to see Johnny for the final time in January 2018. The Department of Arts & Culture, DStv, Algoa FM are proud to announce that due to public demand an extra show has been added for Port Elizabeth on Saturday 27th January 2018.
Earlier this year Johnny announced a final set of concerts in South Africa and overseas to thank his fans for their support over the 40-year long journey that spans his career.
“Our association with Johnny Clegg provides the opportunity for DStv to showcase the power of great television this Festive Season by bringing to life our customers’ favourite musical content in a multisensory experience. The tour helps us build meaningful relationships with our stakeholders – from customers and staff to suppliers and various partners – who continuously help us to build our business.”
The tour is built around Clegg’s unparalleled repertoire of songs which began with the release of Juluka’s Universal Men in 1979 and continued through the Savuka years and his more recent solo work.
Clegg’s many different hits and live favourites will be brought to life by the biggest production ever created for a Clegg live show, supported by his world-class live band.
Another highlight of the shows will be the different styles of dance that have been integral to Clegg’s life and work, ever since he learnt the fundamentals of Zulu music and traditional Zulu Inhlangwininidancing with Charlie Mzila while still a teenager.
After the Final Journey World Tour Clegg will take time off to finish his autobiography and spend time with his family and do the things he hasn't been able to do due to an incredible work schedule over the past three decades.

For the first time ever Jesse Clegg and I will be performing together on television on Dancing with the Stars SA on M-Net this Sunday.
We will be performing the new single, "I've Been Looking" Get the music here http://johnnyclegg.lnk.to/KOTThe father and son duo perform together on TV for the very first time.
Johnny Clegg is a bonafide South African music legend. He’s a dancer, anthropologist, singer, songwriter, academic, activist and recently became a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE). Whilst all of these tags are fitting, none of them can accurately describe the energetic, passionate human being who has become one of South Africa's greatest musical exports.
He has campaigned against the injustice of apartheid South Africa and been instrumental in putting the new South Africa on the map as a cultural ambassador.
Johnny is a Grammy nominee and Billboard music award winner, and recently completed his final world tour, titled The Final Journey. These twelve sold-out concerts in South Africa (and two London concerts) were built around Clegg’s unparalleled repertoire of songs, which began with the release of Juluka’s Universal Men in 1979 and continued through the Savuka years and his more recent solo work.
Clegg’s recorded output as part of Juluka, Savuka and solo have earned him millions of record sales and multiple international releases, all eagerly consumed by a truly global audience. He was the forerunner of combining Western musical styles with African ones, sparking a revolution in South African music that can be still be heard in the work of artists today.
Most potently, Clegg’s ability to illuminate the connectedness of all human beings through his music meant he was a pioneer of social cohesion in South Africa. He also provided a portal for international audiences to gain a deeper understanding of the anti-apartheid movement and the journey towards, and ultimately into, freedom.
His son Jesse seems set to carry on his dad’s great work. Jesse is a singer-songwriter whose three studio albums (‘When I Wake Up’, ‘Life On Mars’ and ‘Things Unseen’) have made the 29-year-old a platinum-selling success in his home country.
The son of iconic South-African musician Johnny Clegg, Jesse spent the first six years of his life on tour with his father. He has released six Top 10 singles and toured extensively throughout South Africa.
As an official ambassador for the Nelson Mandela 46664 Foundation, Jesse was invited to play at Radio City Music Hall in New York for the annual Mandela Day Concert. He has been nominated for three South African Music Awards.
His latest album ‘Things Unseen’ debuted in the iTunes Top 10 albums chart. The single “Breathing” features a collaboration with one of South Africa’s hottest young acts, Shekhinah.
Last year Jesse lit up the stage with his guest performance on #TheVoiceSA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xECzgzLaQaI

25.-27.08.2018 Seena Magowitz Foundation
The Seena Magowitz Foundation's 16th Annual Golf Classic held in Boston August 25-27, 2018 was blessed by the attendance of the world-renown singer-songwriter Johnny Clegg who entertained the audience at the weekend event with a couple of his famous songs. Johnny Clegg is now battling advanced pancreatic cancer and joined us at the Classic Event all the way from South Africa. What an amazing inspiration this man his. His compassion for the equality of people is evident in his unique style of song and entertainment based upon his love of the Zulu culture.
Clegg fell in love with Zulu dancing, just as much as with the music, and dancing opened up a whole new channel of being for Clegg. "It was like capoeira, or martial arts, to music," he explains. "You kick high, and you stamp the ground, which is symbolically delivering a blow to an enemy or receiving a blow and how you would recover. So it's a kind of warrior theater."
Enjoy. We all need to be Warriors in the fight against pancreatic cancer. Thank you Johnny for being such an inspiration for the cause. We were all indeed humbled by the generosity of your presence at the 2018 SMF Classic. Godspeed.

Friends of Johnny Clegg https://www.friendsofjohnnyclegg.com/
Johnny Clegg represents all that is great about South Africa. He embodies the fighting spirit and vision, required to transcend into a better future for all. Leading from the front, he has shown how social barriers and prejudices can be broken with his music and in doing so, instils an awareness of other cultures while truly creating a meaningful change.
Johnny’s passion for education shines bright and as a result, he has inspired some of the country’s most popular artists to thank him for all that he has done and continues to do for music and South Africa, alike. On 10 September 2018, over 50 artists came together to record their own version of Johnny’s song, ‘The Crossing’, as a tribute to the man himself and to raise funds to fight the education crisis in South Africa. This stands to be the biggest South African music collaboration of all time and shows once again how Johnny has the unwavering ability to bring people from all backgrounds together.
FRIENDS OF JOHNNY CLEGG is a fund created in Johnny’s honour through the Click Foundation. The funds will be distributed to their various centres across South Africa to target young learners in primary schools, Grade R – Grade 3 with an online phonetics based programme to help them read and write. The Click Foundation is aimed at changing lives for the young learners of South Africa. Supporting them on their journey and creating lifelong learners through their ability to read and use technology.

seiner Krebserkrankung in Johannesburg.
Sein Sohn Jesse Clegg (* 1988) tritt als
Singer-Songwriter auf.

Johnny Clegg was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015, which ultimately led to his death on 16 July 2019. He died in his Johannesburg home surrounded by loved ones and was laid to rest the following day in Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg. Clegg was survived by his wife, Jenny, and his two sons, Jesse (also a musician) and Jaron.
Auch die Simple Minds und Bono widmeten ihm Songs. Nelson
Mandela ist später sogar einmal zu Johnny Clegg auf die Bühne gekommen.
Möge seine Seele in Frieden ruhen! Als Johnny Clegg
bei einem Konzert in Paris gerade die Hymne "Asimbonanga (We have not seen him)"
Man
durfte sie nicht einmal erwähnen. Johnny Clegg und Madiba waren miteinander
verflochten.
